Huawei Honor 8 Lite review |March 27, 2017
Huawei Honor 8 Lite
The phone runs on the latest Android operating system, which is currently the most popular platform on the market. Emotion, by Huawei, runs on top of Android on this device, offering a customised experience.
The Honor 8 Lite has a 12 megapixel rear (primary) camera, which will produce high-quality photos. Its 8-megapixel front camera makes it a great choice for selfies. It can capture 1080p high definition video with its primary camera, which is second only to 4K in terms of recording quality.
The camera’s max lens aperture size on the Huawei Honor 8 Lite is about average for smartphones. This isn’t a huge factor, but some photo enthusiasts may prefer larger apertures for shallow depth of field photos, or fast action shots.
The Honor 8 Lite has a 5.2 inch display, which is typical for a smartphone.
The screen has a resolution of 1,920 pixels by 1,080 pixels, making it a 1080p HD screen. Display sharpness can be measured in the density of pixels per square inch of screen, and at 424 PPI, it’s 1.4 times sharper than the average phone released in the past 12 months.
The Honor 8 Lite has an advertised talk time of 21 hours, which is significantly longer than 12 hours, the average of phones released in the past year. In terms of battery capacity, which is the actual electric charge the battery holds, this phone can hold 3,000 mAh, which is just about average for a smartphone released in 2017.
Sleek Form Factor with an Average Weight
The phone’s plastic body is 147.20mm high, 72.94mm wide, and has a depth of 7.60mm, 13% thinner than the average smartphone released in the last 12 months. In fact, it’s thin enough to have a case and still be thinner than an average phone.
Processor and Memory
The Honor 8 Lite houses an octa core Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 655 system on a chip. Its CPU runs at 2.1 GHz, which is much higher than average for a smartphone processor.
With 3 GB of RAM, the Honor 8 Lite has more memory than an average smartphone from this past year.
Below Average Storage Space
The base model of the Honor 8 Lite has 16GB of internal storage, which is sub-par for storing music and video, compared to other 2017 phones. Fortunately, there are other storage size options, or you can cheaply expand its storage by as much as 128GB with a microSD card.
